Mission for Modernism

Mission for Modernism is a new online educational lecture series initiative of Docomomo US providing focused conversations, book discussions and tours from those on the front lines working to preserve and celebrate modern architecture, landscapes and design. Mission for Modernism highlights the depth and breadth of modern preservation projects and addresses core modern design principles including the social context, technical merits, aesthetics and setting of these important pieces of American history. The Mission for Modernism webinar series features scholarly discussions on important and current topics, preservation professionals’ efforts to restore and reuse significant sites, in addition to best practices for modernism advocates, and will highlight our annual thematic focus of Travel and Leisure for 2021.

Monthly virtual lectures are approximately 60 minutes in length.

Mission for Modernism: Alumination, the Airstream documentary

Continuing our exploration of the 2021 annual theme “Travel and Leisure,” we are taking a trip through the world of travel trailers. Docomomo US is excited to present ALUMINATION, the Airstream documentary, as part of our Mission for Modernism series. This is private, preview screening offered in advance of its world premiere this fall. The screening will be followed by a moderated Q&A with filmmaker Eric Bricker.

Support the nation's premiere organization dedicated to the preservation of modern architecture, landscape and design by becoming a Mission for Modernism partner or sponsor. Sponsors have the opportunity to align their organization to our efforts to provide leadership and knowledge by demonstrating the importance of modern design principles including the social context, technical merits, aesthetics and settings of these important pieces of American history. Sponsors will be acknowledged in all program announcements and during each lecture. 

 

Levels
  • The Annual Sponsor at $5K provides support for one year of programming. Includes the ability to welcome guests and up to 10 complimentary tickets per event. 
  • The Lead Program Sponsor at $1K provides support for one program as the lead sponsor. Includes the ability to welcome guests and up to 10 complimentary tickets. 
  • The Single Program Sponsor at $500 provides support for one program. Includes up to 10 complimentary tickets.
