Travel to Chicago
Flying
The 2020 National Symposium will take place in Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is home to two international airports conveniently located in the center of the country, with thousands of daily inbound and outbound flights to more than 240 destinations.
Chicago O’Hare International Airport
O’Hare (ORD) is one of the largest airports in the world. It lies just 16 miles from downtown Chicago and boasts four terminals — three domestic (Terminals 1, 2 and 3) and one international (Terminal 5).
Chicago Midway International Airport
Midway (MDW) offers value-oriented travel to over 60 destinations. It’s located only 11 miles from downtown Chicago.
Transportation to/from O’Hare and Midway
- Both O’Hare and Midway are within easy reach of downtown Chicago.
- The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line ‘L’ Train, which runs 24/7, connects directly to O’Hare. The CTA Orange Line ‘L’ Train connects directly to Midway.
- GO Airport Express provides shared ride services to all downtown/suburban hotels.
Getting Around
The Chicago metropolitan area boasts one of the greatest concentrations of modern buildings and sites. From the riches of Oak Park and Frank Lloyd Wright sites, to the highest concentration of Mies van der Rohe buildings at Illinois Institute of Technology, to downtown skyscrapers and a complex variety of subsurban and residential works, the Docomomo US Chicago Symposium is pleased to take you to a wide variety of venues and locations across the city.
In order to reach the venue for the day, guests are encouraged to take public transportation to and from each day's activities. While afternoon tours will provide transportation from venues to evening events and the hotel, we recommend guests use Chicago's convenient Chicago Tranportation Authority (CTA) system to get from place to place. The CTA is the nation’s second largest public transportation system and it operates Chicago’s eight ‘L’ train lines and 129 bus routes.
