Carie Penabad

Carie Penabad is a distinguished alumna of both the University of Miami and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She is currently a full professor at the University of Miami School of Architecture and was formerly both associate dean of research and director of the undergraduate program (2016–Summer 2021). She has taught in a variety of institutions; and in 2013 she was appointed the Louis I. Kahn visiting assistant professor at Yale University. Her publications include: Marion Manley: Miami’s First Women Architect (University of Georgia Press, 2010); Call to Order: Sustaining Simplicity in Architecture (ORO Publishers, 2018) and the forthcoming: Made in Miami/Hecho en Miami (ACTAR Publishers, 2023 with Adib Cúre). Penabad is a partner in the Miami-based, award-winning firm of CÚRE & PENABAD. Since January 2023, she has hosted ON CITIES, an international radio show/podcast dedicated to the design of our cities and the ways in which the built environment shapes the quality of our lives.
