Professor Awilda Rodríguez Carrión, originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a distinguished architect with a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University. Before establishing the multidisciplinary design studio, digital extension, she gained valuable experience at Orcutt/Winslow Partnership in Phoenix, Arizona, specializing in education and health care design. Later, she contributed her design expertise to the hospitality unit of the globally recognized Fluor Corporation. The work of digital extension was showcased at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona, and the studio garnered numerous awards, including recognition from the American Association of Museums. In 2009, she brought her professional experience to the Oklahoma State University School of Architecture faculty, where she excelled in teaching and served as an advisor for various student organizations. Professor Rodríguez Carrión has recently joined The University of Oklahoma. In her new role, she will delve into research encompassing Puerto Rico's Cultural Heritage, addressing the pressing challenges posed by the climate crisis, and exploring solutions for resilience. This transition reflects her dedication to making meaningful contributions to architectural research and education while addressing critical issues impacting communities.
