The wait is finally over!

We are excited to announce the schedule of tours and events taking place during Tour Day 2016: Modernism in Your Backyard is now available!

Set to take place on October 8, 2016 and throughout the month of October, this year’s event includes more than 50 tours in 20 states and 30+ individual cities. Hosted by Docomomo US chapters, friends and many of the leading national preservation voices, ”Modernism in Your Backyard” looks to celebrate both the works of modern masters and local architects found in cities and neighborhoods across the United States.

We wish we could go to all of the tours taking place throughout the month of October, but unfortunately we cannot teleport quite yet. We plan on harnessing the technology we do have and hope you join us in posting and following #TourDay #ExploreModern #docomomous to see the amazing buildings, landscapes, and sites participants are capturing across the country.

Below are just a couple of the featured tours and events taking place this year. Visit www.docomomo-us.org/tourday for the full list.

The tour hosted by Docomomo US/Greater Philadelphia takes a look at local architect Vincent Kling and features tours of the houses he designed including the 1952 Scull House. Docomomo US/New York-Tristate in partnership with the Dana Library and Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University Newark Campus is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Newark campus that includes buildings designed by award-winning tri-state architects Kelly & Gruzen, Robert L. GeddesBrecher, Qualls & Cunningham, and Frank Grad & Sons.
