The Architect's Newspaper reports that despite reservations of some of the Seattle design commissioners, the Freeway Park Association's proposal to reinvigorate the 44-year old park was approved and will now head to the City for final decision. Proposed changes include the installation of a bandshell, new restroom facilities, a food kiosk, a playground, and possibly a bouldering wall.
Freeway Park and other Seattle parks were listed in The Cultural Landscape Foundation's 2017 Landslide Compendium of threatened and at-risk national landscapes.
