At the last moment, Eric Saarinen, son of Eero Saarinen and the co-producer and director of photography for the documentary "Eero Saarinen: The Architect Who Saw the Future" agreed to attend Docomomo US MN’s special screening of the film at the Eero- and Eliel-designed Christ Church Lutheran in Minneapolis on April 24, 2018.

Shown to a nearly standing-room-only crowd, followed by a sneak-peek at Eric’s next film, which will focus on his grandfather Eliel, the screening was an immense success.

The evening began with tours of the Eliel-designed sanctuary, followed by wine, bread and spreads, and pre-film socializing in the Eero-designed education wing’s gymnasium. While noshing, guests were able to meet and chat with Eric, members of Christ Church Lutheran and Docomomo US MN members.

Following the film, Eric talked about his relationship with his father, how the film brought him a new appreciation for Eero’s work ethic and creativity, and his interest in advancing his work with a film about his grandfather’s architecture.

After the Q&A, guests retired to the period-perfect lounge where Eric spoke about the church’s architecture, his family’s legacy and modern architecture with numerous guests.
