This tour celebrates significant architect-designed and artist-endowed places of worship in the city of Claremont, California.

 

The docent-led tours include:

  • Claremont United Methodist Church – Richard Neutra (architect)
  • Claremont United Church of Christ – Theodore Criley (architect); Millard Sheets (art direction)
  • Kresge Chapel – Edward Durell Stone (architect)
  • Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church – George J. Adams and Foster Rhodes Jackson (architects)
  • Claremont Presbyterian Church – Culver Heaton (architect)

 

Note: This is a self-driving/walking tour, with check-in at each location. Attendees will receive an email confirmation with a map and instructions ahead of the event and may visit the locations in any order within the tour window.

This tour is organized by Claremont Heritage, a non-profit organization, was formed in 1976 by citizens of Claremont to carry out a mission to advance, preserve and celebrate the historic architectural, natural and cultural resources of our community through collaboration, education and advocacy.
