Native American Center for the Living Arts

Site overview

“The Turtle” is a modern three-story, 67,000-square-foot building, on a 1.67-acre property designed by Northern Arapaho architect Dennis Sun Rhodes. It is in the shape of a large turtle and faces the Niagara River and the American Falls. After its closure, it eventually was purchased by a developer: Niagara Falls Redevelopment Turtle LLC. It has remained closed since 1996.  The developer was looking to raze the building to make way for a 20-story hotel.
