This tour will visit the Six Moon Hill community in Lexington, MA, developed and built between 1947 and 1953 by and for members of The Architects Collaborative in Cambridge, a firm founded (and at that time still headed, by Walter Gropius). The community, based on egalitarian and utopian principles, encompasses 28 moderately prized houses (ca. $ 20000), which all share a mid-century modern design philosophy and formal language.

Cities are constantly being shaped by new development projects. Residents hotly debate whether the look and scale of a new building is appropriate. But what about the projects that never got built? This lecture and walking tour will explore several projects in Providence that were proposed but never constructed.

Visit the Bundy Modern, tour the building and see the exhibit closing October 9. Built in 1962 by Harlow Carpenter, GSD '56, sponsor of Corbu's Carpenter Center for Visual Arts. To Market is a show of paintings by Shelley Reed and cut paper works by Randal Thurston. Tour the grounds with sculptures from the 1960s, described as a mini Storm King by Storm King's director.
