Built in 1962 to watch boat racing and featuring concerts on a floating stage, the Marine Stadium is an architectural masterpiece which when built, featured what was considered to be the longest span of cantilevered concrete in the world. The building has been shuttered since 1992.
First, Don Worth discusses the history of the Stadium, the 16 year advocacy effort to restore it, and "lessons learned" in the advocacy effort. Next, Rosa Lowinger and Paul Gaudette consider the architectural design and use of concrete in the structure and reflect on the complex task of removing 200 coats of graffiti.
