Biography
American architect achieved the majority of his works in Los Angeles. He studied architecture at the University of Southern California 1948-1952. He worked in the offices of Raphael Soriano and of Quincy Jones before gaining his own architecture license in 1957. He is known primarily for his residential structures created in the modernist idiom; using post and beam construction and extensive use of steel and glass. He designed two Case Study Houses in 1958 and 1959. The later house, (Case Study House number 22) was cantilevered out from a hillside overlooking the city of Los Angeles, and became a popular symbol of California living.
