Documentation
Much of the survey/registry work has been in conjunction with the Michigan Modern project. SHPO has received a draft National Register nomination for an Eames-designed house in Zeeland which is now owned by Herman Miller.
The Michigan Chapter has begun to submit registry entries including the Dodge Fountain in Detroit, and Temple Emanuel by Erich Mendelsohn, and the List House by Richard Neutra in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Additional submissions are in process.
Programs
The Michigan Chapter co-sponsored the 2016 Docomomo-US Symposium in Detroit in June. In conjunction with Docomomo-US Tour Day, the Michigan Chapter sponsored a morning walk-through of the Minds of Modernism Exhibition at the Michigan History Museum in Lansing and participated in afternoon tours of Frank Lloyd Wright Goetsch-Winkler House and Keck & Keck’s Panshin House.
Advocacy
Northville Grade School and the Northland Mall, including the completion of a report describing the history and present conditions of the closed mall.
