Teri D’Amico is the Principal and Senior Designer of DADA, D’Amico Design Associates Team. After receiving her degree at the Ohio State University where she studied Industrial Design and Art History Teri continued her education at Parsons School of Design in New York City. After Parsons School of Design, she moved to Miami to begin her career while completing her Post Graduate Degree in Interior Design and Architectural.
Teri is NCDIQ certified and is a professional licensed interior designer. Teri’s story was influenced by many of the industry’s most heralded designers. While in New York she worked with Henry Myerberg Architects and William Green Associates. Though her work there was focused on showroom design it was Henry’s West Broadway Restaurant and Café that changed her understanding of the 50’s mid-century design and exposed her to the excitement of hospitality design. Teri relocated to Miami Beach in 1992 to pursue her design career in hospitality. LPWK Architects introduced her to the world of Resort Design in the Caribbean and Miami Beach working with Club Med and Super Clubs.
Teri became a senior designer with Miami based retail design firm, Michael Rosenthal Associates, working on projects like Spec Music, Cache Stores, Diamond Noir at the Breakers Hotel as well as department stores throughout South Florida and South America. Recognized for her unique talent, Teri had opportunity to study with Morris Lapidus, renowned resort and retail designer, while documenting his personal Miami Beach apartment for reconstruction for the Bass Museum.
In 1997 Teri launched her own design business. What started out as Teri D’Amico Interiors has evolved into DADA, D’Amico Design Associates, a full service design studio with clients primarily in South Florida and the Caribbean Islands. Teri is a passionate advocate for historical architectural design and has been on the Board of Directors for the Miami Design Preservation League. She has also served on the City of Miami Beach’s Design Review Board. Her personal soft spot is with her volunteer work on the MiMo architecture. She founded the movement to educate and preserve mid-century Miami-Dade architecture and curated an architectural exhibit on MiMo for the NY City Municipal Art Society, which is now traveling thought out the world.
Teri’s photography will be featured in an upcoming book on MiMo published by Chronicle Books. Teri’s knowledge in the restoration process as led her to consulting on historic preservation projects throughout South Florida. Her tireless efforts for Miami preservation and hard work led her to recently receive the Key of the City from Miami Beach Mayor, Davis Dermer. Inspired by her mentors, Teri wanted to share the gifts she was given and has served as an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University, School of Architecture where she taught design hospitality and advanced construction drawings in AutoCAD.
