Abby Laughlin

Abby Laughlin is a mid-century modern artist and activist living and working in Fort Lauderdale Florida. An avid collector of Fort Lauderdale ephemera, she has an encyclopedic knowledge of local mid-century landmarks, past and present.

As a retired real estate professional specializing in small adaptive rehab, she is uniquely qualified to understand the importance of Historic Properties and the role they play in communities. Abby is a Trustee of the Fort Lauderdale History Center and a Board member of the Florida Chapter of Docomomo US.

A Native of New York and now happily living in Fort Lauderdale, Abby graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Photography.

She currently is working on three mid-century modern projects. “A moment in Time”, a fine arts book about Fort Lauderdale Beach architecture from 1948 to 1978. “Postcard Madness” a documentary exhibit chronicling the streetscapes of Fort Lauderdal buildings from 1938 to present, and “Liminal” – a Photography exhibit showcasing Modern Architecture at its liminal best.
