DOCOMOMO/US Florida, in association with the City of Jacksonville’s Planning and Development Department and the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission, will host an afternoon walking tour.
The tour will begin at the 1927 Florida Theatre Building, designed by Roy Benjamin with interiors by R.E. Hall. The building is home to the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission. The tour will next proceed to two public structures designed by William N. Morgan in the 1970s – the Police Administration Building and the former State Office Building.
It will wind up at Taylor Hardwick’s iconic 1965 Haydon Burns Library. The building is now in the throes of an adaptive reuse. The tour will investigate the building’s conversion.
