Docomomo US/North Texas Screening Pruitt Igoe Myth

Daniel Magidson

Docomomo US/North Texas in partnership with Dallas Architecture Forum will host the award-winning film, The Pruitt-Igoe Myth: An Urban History on Tuesday, November 8th at the Dallas Center for Architecture.

While the images of the 1972 demolition of the Pruitt-Igoe housing project have become an iconographic visual shorthand for the failure of modern architecture, the reality is much more complex, involving wide-spread failures of our society, government, economy, and culture.

Join Docomomo US/North Texas member Bob Meckfessel, FAIA and a panel of housing experts for the screening, a discussion of the film and the current realities of public housing in our society and architecture. For more on the film and to find screening in your area visit
