Friends and colleagues reflect on the legacy of Jean-Louis Cohen, historian, curator, and Sheldon H. Solow Chair of History of Architecture at New York University, who passed away unexpectedly in the summer of 2023. Cohen was a strong advocate of 20th century architecture and preservation and he collaborated actively with Docomomo International as well as Docomomo US and Docomomo France. At the time of his death, he was deeply involved with the heritage of Ukrainian Modernism and the Catalogue Raisonné of Frank Gehry’s drawings.
