Join Docomomo DC and Claude Engle for a talk on the DC Metro Lighting Renovation Project Lighting designer Claude Engle will present the ongoing project to renovate the lighting in the Washington, DC area's Metro stations. The new lighting approach implements the original design intent with today’s technology, allowing the stations to fully realize Harry Weese’s design for the first time. 

Docomomo US/DC and Howard University’s Department of Architecture will host a tour of modern architecture on Howard's main campus in Washington, DC. Howard is a historically black university with a long standing commitment to the field of architecture. The tour will feature modern buildings designed by African American architects including Hilyard Robinson and Paul R. Williams and explore the role of the modern movement in campus development.

A supersized version of his famed Barcelona Pavilion, the Tugendhat House and its restoration combine great architecture with a compelling 20th century story.

On Tour Day, Docomomo US/DC will explore the evolution of Pennsylvania Avenue from L’Enfant’s plan, to the 20th century work of the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation, to the current studies of the Pennsylvania Avenue Executive Committee.

The 2018 edition of the Hollin Hills House Tour will be held on April 28. The excursion, which is a self-guided walking tour, promises a look at the distinctive planned neighborhood of Hollin Hills and its collection of midcentury modern architecture.
