Chad DeWitt is the founder of Framestudio, a small architecture and design practice that specializes in the preservation of architecturally significant homes from the 20th century. It was while studying architecture at California College of the Arts in San Francisco that he was first exposed to The Sea Ranch. A weekend trip with classmates turned into an annual pilgrimage, and in 2017, he purchased one of the early Sea Ranch demonstration homes. A few years later, that home was awarded a Citation of Merit in the Docomomo US Modernism in America Awards.
Chad’s personal passion lies in the Third Bay Area Tradition, a regional variation of late modernist architecture. He currently serves as the vice president of the Northern California chapter of Docomomo US, and spends his spare time documenting the modernist architecture in the city's Point Richmond neighborhood, where he lives with his husband James.
