In the past month, historic sites, museums, nonprofits, and cultural institutions have shown their resiliency by rapidly transitioning to provide online resources for their audiences during this time of social distancing. It's a lot to keep track of, and we know you just want the good stuff - so we've done the hard work and compiled some of the best modern resources in one place for you. From virtual tours to YouTube channels to academic journals, we hope this list keeps you occupied until it's safe to meet again in person.
Modern sites you can visit virtually
When your visit is virtual you can go anywhere, including iconic modern sites around the globe!
The Glass House, Gropius House, and Barcelona Pavilion all offer unique virtual tours on their websites.
Download the Bauhaus Dessau app (available for Apple or Android) and walk through the school and its related sites while enjoying some appropriate sound accompaniment.
Take a #MuseumfromHome trip with the kids to the McCormick House: this presentation (pdf) walks you through the current colorful exhibit, AfterParti, complete with prompts for the younger crowd.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, in partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and Unity Temple Restoration Foundation, announced the start of #WrightVirtualVisits. Each Thursday, beginning on April 2, participating sites will share a short video tour of another site via social media.
