In alignment with this year’s theme of Revisiting Urban Renewal, the North Texas chapter of Docomomo US is pleased to host a tour of two very special sites, Stemmons Towers and the Dallas Market Center International Sculpture Garden.
We’ll start at Stemmons Towers, a composition of Modern office building designed by Harold A. Berry, AIA and landscape architect Boyd & Heiderich. We’ll tour the Plaza, building interiors of one building and learn about new plans to convert the towers to residential use.
We will then visit the Dallas Market Center International Sculpture Garden, envisioned by founder Trammel Crow as a gift to the City of Dallas. The Garden was curated to record “a portion of each nation’s cultural gift to the world’s economic security and a better way of life.”
Marcel Quimby, FAIA, will lead the Stemmons Towers tour and Amy Walton, founder of modTEXAS, will lead the Sculpture Garden tour.
Free and open to the public, no registration required.
