Docomomo US/Hawaii invites you to explore the architecture in and around Honolulu’s famous Kapiolani Park, which was heavily redeveloped between 1940 and 1970 to serve the city’s growing resident and tourist population. We will examine the ways in which architects designed buildings in order to respond to changes in the city, as well as how these buildings responded to technology, climate, and the landscape. Our tour will commence at the entrance to the Honolulu Zoo, designed by Alfred Preis, and end at the notable Queen Kapiolani hotel. Along the way, we will see the park grounds, performance spaces, public schools
Early bird tickets (before 9/30) are $35 and it's $45 after that
