Inheritable Resilience:
Sharing Values of Global Modernities

Every two years Docomomo organizes an international conference, bringing together docomomo members and friends from its 73 National Working Parties, as an opportunity for in-depth exploration of an important theme or aspect of the Modern Movement.

The forthcoming conference is being hosted by Docomomo Japan and will take place virtually from August 29 - September 2, 2021, under the theme "Inheritable Resilience: Sharing Values of Global Modernities".

International Docomomo Conferences combine paper sessions, round-tables, workshops and tours focused on the Modern Movement legacy. In order to foster transnational and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of the Modern Movement, the 2020+1 edition of the international Docomomo Conference incorporated for the first time a preliminary call for sessions.

Stay tuned for further announcements of more details, including how the conference will be conducted and all related matters around April 15th, 2021, on the conference website.

Docomomo US members at the International level and above receive reduced registration to the International Conference.

Making use of the additional time until the next conference, the International Conference committee has been holding various online discussion opportunities in regards to the Modern Movement, with the belief that the exchange and development of discussions prior to the conference will build solidarity and bring discussions to a higher level at the conference itself. You can participate in these discusssions by joining the Facebook group "Modernism is Frozen: Urbanism and Architecture under/after Covid-19."
