Inspired by Midcentury: Fenway Clayworks

Fenway Clayworks is the result of a lifelong interest in functional ceramics. Its founder, Sean VanderVliet has 20 years of experience as ceramicist, using his hands to craft and sculpt objects for the home. Sean speaks to the subconscious influence design has on us, how we consume it daily without realizing it, and how that has manifested in his work.

Inspired by Midcentury: Wendy Maruyama

Furniture maker, artist and educator Wendy Maruyama has been making innovative work for 40 years and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Her recent work moves beyond the boundaries of traditional studio craft and into the realm of social practice. The work she created for a recent exhibition drew inspiration from Anni Albers' work as a weaver and textile artist as well as her experience facing discrimination at the Bauhaus.
