For the coming academic year 2009–10, the Fondation Le Corbusier will attribute one grant to a young researcher wishing to devote his/her studies to Le Corbusier’s work.

New York, NY. – February 5, 2009 –

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has selected DOCOMOMO US as recipient of the 2009 Institute Honors for Collaborative Achievement.  The award, to be presented at the 2009 AIA National Convention and Design Exposition in San Francisco, recognizes and encourages distinguished achievements of allied professionals, clients, organizations, architect teams, knowledge communities, and others who have had a beneficial influence on or advanced the architectural profession.

The Alfred Newton Richards Medical Research Laboratory and the adjacent David Goddard Laboratories were designated a National Historic Landmark by then U.S. Secretary of the Interior John Kempthorne. The building is one of nine new landmarks Kempthorne added to a list of fewer than 2,500 buildings nationwide bearing the same designation.

DOCOMOMO US is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dorothy  Miner on October 21, 2008.

Dorothy served as the counsel for the Landmarks Preservation Commission for two decades and played a critical role in the 1978 Penn Central case. After retiring from the Commission in 1994 she taught at Columbia ’s Historic Preservation program, Pace University School of Law, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where her dedication to her students was inspiring.

She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
