Docomomo US is pleased to welcome Modern-STL as an official Friend Organization. Led by local architectural enthusiasts and historic preservationists, Modern-STL was formed in 2010 as a membership-based non-profit seeking to protect and foster a deeper appreciation for the St. Louis region’s mid-century modern heritage. The organization fulfills this mission through events, tours, and lectures, and serves as St. Louis’ leading advocate for the preservation of local modern architecture.

Saucer

Most recently, Modern-STL has successfully participated in efforts to preserve the space-age-inspired “Saucer” building (named one of the National Trust’s Ten Remarkable Preservation Wins of 2012!) as well as W. A. Sarmiento’s AAA Building, and is currently advocating for the preservation of Frederick Dunn’s stunning Lewis & Clark Library.

Upcoming Modern STL events include a February 2nd homeowner’s workshop, entitled “Authenticity + Sustainability: Making the Most of Your MCM Masterpiece”. Modern-STL has participated in the annual Docomomo US Tour Day for the last two years, and is excited to partner with Docomomo US going forward. Please join us in welcoming them, and feel free to “like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter!
