International Student Competition: A Fresh Look at 20th Century Architectural Heritage

Photo Modeling of Architectural Heritage of the 20th Century

Registration for the international competition on photo modelling of significant buildings of the 20th century, open to architecture students, will be closed on March 26, 2010.

The contest invites the architects of tomorrow to express their vision of a building of the last century, built between 1901 and 2000, as an architectural description based on panoramic images and / or 3D models of the building in its current state. The competition takes place entirely online.

The proposals, based on digital photographs, must be created using Autodesk ® Image Modeler ™ and Autodesk ® Stitcher ™ Unlimited.The software is freely available to competitors during the competition.

Two UIA Grand prizes of 3 000 Euros each and two Docomomo prizes of 1 000 Euros each will be awarded. A representative of each awarded team will be invited to the awards ceremony to be held during the Biennale of Architecture in Venice, August 28, 2010.

This initiative is part of a partnership between the French Ministry of Culture and Communication’s direction of architecture and heritage; the French National Centre for Scientific Research (UMR 694 MAP-Gamsau Laboratory); the international committee for Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the Modern Mouvement (Docomomo) and the UIA to develop and enrich the web site www.archi.fr/UIA, dedicated to 20th century architecture.
