Docomomo US Welcomes Three New Board Members in Houston

Docomomo US announced the election of three new members to its Board of Directors: Jennifer Magnolfi of New York, Robert Pullum of San Francisco and Robert Thomas of Boston.

Jennifer Magnolfi is a recognized advanced research and design consultant in the corporate real estate industry. Her applied research explores high-tech workspaces and startup environments. She specializes in coworking, co-creation and the technologies that support workspace innovation. In 2012, she teamed up with Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh to integrate her research in the company’s new headquarters redesign and lead the effort to accelerate the emergence of coworking communities for Downtown Project LLC, an investment fund driving the revitalization of downtown Las Vegas. She is the co-author of “Always Building: the Programmable Environment.” In previous roles at Herman Miller R&D and as a Fulbright Scholar at the Interactive Institute in Sweden, she lead research on the effects of digital programmability in physical space and in networked environments.
 

 

Bob Pullum has been an avid member of the Northern California Chapter of Docomomo US for over 10 years as both a board member and the Vice President. He’s led advocacy and marketing efforts through the years at a chapter level such as the development and management of the Docomomo US/NoCa website: www.docomomo-noca.org, and is currently doing this at a national level with Docomomo US. A freelance Creative Director based in San Francisco, Bob helped grow the San Francisco office of AKQA, an award-winning digital marketing firm, from 40 to over 400. During his long tenure at AKQA, Bob led award-winning digital marketing efforts for such clients as Audi of America, Nike, Kraft, Target and Visa. His unique background extends from international recognition for his art direction for traditional art direction and design to a deep understanding of digital communication and digital product design. His work has been recognized in British Design & Art Direction, Communication Arts, The One Show, The Clios, New York Art Director’s Club, the FWA, Mashable, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and the New York Festivals. His prior experience includes the advertising agencies Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Hal Riney & Partners, and Wieden & Kennedy.

 

Bob Thomas’s career in real estate springs from an interest in architecture of all kinds, and a belief in the importance of design quality. In 1997 he founded in Turnstone Property, a real estate development and consulting company specializing in the re-use of underperforming properties, and in new construction on urban in-fill sites. Turnstone's projects have been published in the books Integrated Designs in Contemporary Architecture and Urban Housing Atlas, the architecture and design magazine Azure, and in the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald.
