DOCOMOMO US presents an online forum. The Woodberry Poetry Room in the Lamont Library at Harvard University (1949) is one of only four extant designs in the United States by the great Finnish architect, Alvar Aalto. Aalto designed the room and, working with his wife, Aino, its furnishings. The planned renovation of the space and its fittings is currently underway and has inspired a lively exchange of views among members of the architecture, design and preservation communities.

On Tuesday, June 20, 2006, despite months of active campaigning by local and national preservationists, the Sarasota (Florida) School Board voted 5-0 to demolish Paul Rudolph’s 1957 Riverview High School. As reported in DOCOMOMO US's Summer 2006 newsletter, it was Rudolph’s first major architectural commission, following his remarkable early period of residential design.

The viability of two SOM Buildings at the Great Lakes Naval Station project in Great Lakes, Illinois, is currently in question. On May 18, 2006, the Department of the Navy issued its first notice of Environmental Assessment (EA) for the two structures, a move which is usually a precursor to demolition. The Navy will review public comment until Tuesday, June 20, 2006.
