North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH) is a nonprofit 501C3 educational archive that has documented more than 300 architects in the state. We have a heartfelt mission for the documentation, preservation, and promotion of Modernist houses. In addition, NCMH’s US Modernist Masters Gallery and US Modernist Magazine Library is the world's largest open digital archive for residential Modernist architecture and magazines with 5,500 houses and 3,500 design magazine issues. This includes every house by Wright, Neutra, Schindler, Lautner, and 25 other masters of the 20th century. There are over 26,000 photos, documents, videos, and audio files on the website, all free and open access.

Documentation

NCMH has documented nearly every Modernist house in North Carolina, past and present.  Our video series interviews mid-century architects.  We collect documents and surveys from around the state.  Our unique statewide database of Modernist homes for sale makes it much easier to preserve mid-century homes that would otherwise be teardowns.  In addition, NCMH’s US Modernist Masters Gallery and US Modernist Magazine Library is the world's largest open digital archive for residential Modernist architecture and magazines with 5,500 houses and 3,500 design magazine issues.
